Had the privilege of seeing this documentary/story last night and though I have a few criticisms of the piece I think the message delivered was, on the whole, positive and inspiring and definitely worth watching.
The film, delivered in a poetic tone, chronicles the stories of 8 young girls from 8 different countries who are overcoming their socio-economic and cultural circumstances through education. As you may imagine, it is difficult to delve too deeply into each of the 8 girls’ stories in 110 mins but nonetheless, I am sure this film will be pivotal in initiating a dialogue about the importance of education, our future and our children, no matter what their gender.
My only major gripe is, I would have liked to have seen a story included about the empowerment of a disadvantaged girl in North America instead of a focus entirely on girls of other cultures and countries.
